Seeing what others don't

Air-cooled in-furnace camera systems for optimised process control

Engineered to sit in the furnace wall and look straight into 1,100 °C, our cameras give operators a continuous, clear live picture of the melting process, day after day, for years.

Technology

Built for the cast house, not the lab

Over a decade ago we installed our first camera in an aluminium remelting furnace. It still delivers an uninterrupted live view today. Everything we learned since is in the current system.

Air-cooled

Compressed air keeps optics and electronics cool, so no cooling water is needed next to molten metal.

Pneumatic retraction

The camera retracts from the port automatically when air pressure drops or when it is not needed, protecting the optics.

Optical zoom

Zoom in on the scrap pile or inspect refractory wear during operation without interrupting production.

Time-lapse and recording

Hours of melting become seconds of video. A visual record for optimisation, incident analysis and training.

Several furnaces on one screen

Show the cameras of several furnaces on one screen in the control room, the scrap bay or on the wheel loader.

Connected

Video to any screen in the plant, results to charging machines and process control systems.

On site

The hardware

Stainless steel housing, air supply, retraction unit and a control cabinet with the video and analysis computer. Photos from customer installations.

Key benefits

What changes when the door stays closed

Enhanced safety

Operators monitor furnace conditions remotely and stay away from heat, splashes and floor traffic.

Energy savings

An open door loses radiant heat within seconds and needs three times that energy to recover. Closed doors mean shorter melts and lower CO₂.

Improved melt rates

Skim or add material at the right moment and reduce cycle times without opening the furnace.

Proactive maintenance

Track refractory wear over time and adjust burners before problems appear.

Incident analysis

Review recorded footage to analyse and resolve incidents and put preventive measures in place.

Intelligent operations

Prompts for charging or skimming today; automated flame and refractory monitoring in development.

Which furnace do you run?
