Fioscope cameras are not only a powerful visual tool, they can make smart decisions to optimise process control and support operators.
A key feature is autonomous skimming, developed in partnership with RiA Cast House Engineering GmbH, a leading manufacturer of rail-mounted charging and skimming machines.
Fioscope air cooled cameras, mounted on the RiA Skimming Machine are used to view the melt surface and do two key tasks, firstly set the depth of the blade to skim the dross from the melt surface and leave behind the molten aluminium. Secondly, to identify what is dross and what is liquid aluminium to ensure only the dross is skimmed from the melt surface. Operators are therefore no longer required to skim the furnace, keeping them away from the furnace and protecting your furnace refractory.
